FBC Free Movie Night - "The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey

This will be our last movie of 2018. We close out another successful year of movie watching by showing “The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey.” It is about a grouchy woodcarver who bonds with a boy while constructing a Nativity scene for him. The Movie begins at 6:30 p.m. and the popcorn and water are always free.

Hello Church!
We continue to wait expectantly in Advent during week two. Our text this week is found in the gospel of Luke 1:68-79. This is labeled, in many bibles, as Zechariah's Song. It is the song of joy on the birth of a miracle baby, John.

This week we will begin collecting for the Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering. In this age of mega churches and their wealthy pastors, we sometimes lose sight of the fact that many people have sacrificed in their ministry to the Lord and reach retirement without much of anything. Here is our opportunity to say thank you.

Let me point out two items in the newsletter. The Sunday evening bible study will meet again at 6:00 p.m. If you didn't attend last week's study, you can attend this week's. It will look at Malachi 3:1-4.

On Monday evening, at Pizza Ranch, there is a fundraiser for the Hempstead Boys Swim Team. I don't usually promote these sorts of things, but we have an unusual relationship with the team. First off, Rick Loeffelholz is the Head Coach. Second, they have helped us out the last few years by loading our truck for OCC. That has been a huge help. So, why not pay them back and enjoy some pizza at the same time. They will receive a percentage of profit from 5 p.m. to close.
Blessings!

Advent Bible Study ; Zephaniah 3:14-20

During the Season of Advent, the pastor will lead a Bible study of the response texts found in the Lectionary. The study will begin at 6:00 p.m. each Sunday evening and will last for one hour. A printed copy of the text will be supplied, but it is suggested that each participant bring a Bible. If you don’t have one the Church will supply one for you. Here are the dates and topics:

December 16: Zephaniah 3:14-20

December 23: Micah 5:2-5a

The goal of this study is to allow us to meditate and think upon the texts that the Church has held sacred for this Advent/Christmas Season.

Hi Church!
It is the day before Thanksgiving. I want to express my thanks to all of you and wish you safe travels and warm memories for the holiday.

On Sunday we will celebrate Christ the King Sunday. We will focus on the kingship of Jesus. The text is John 18:33-37. Kingship is a strange word  for us "colonials," but we will try to understand where Jesus is coming from and what it means to us in the 21st century.

By the way, we had a successful collection week for Operation Christmas Child. Our numbers were tabulated by the accounting firm of Quintana, Guzzle and Bees and the final count for 2018 is ... 1485 boxes. Thanks to the team for all that they have done to reach this amount. Thanks to all who collected throughout the year, for those who networked and got friends to participate as well. Good work people!

There has been a change in the December movie, so this digital version will be different from the print version in Sunday's bulletin. The digital version is correct.

Blessings and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
