Looking ahead to better times, this will be both an enjoyable and educational time of learning about history that many of us are unfamiliar with. Participants will visit significant sites in Nashville, Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham and Memphis related to the history of the Civil Rights movement. They will include: The National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, the 16th Street Baptist Church, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the Edmond Pettus Bridge, the Rosa Parks Museum and Library, The Civil Rights Memorial Center, The Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. Seating is limited. Singles $1,786, doubles $1,360. Price includes: Deluxe motor coach transportation, 6 nights lodging, 6 breakfasts, 6 kickbacks, 3 dinners, all admissions, taxes, gratuities. Begin praying about your participation. Questions? Ask either Claudette or Tim Bees.

2020 Vacation Bible School [June 19-20]

We are planning a weekend [Friday-Saturday] VBS on June 19-20. We are going to use Group’s “Anchored” Curriculum. Please begin praying about this event. Please consider participating in some way or another as well. Contact Christine Quintana if you want to help out.

OCC Garage Sale [June 5-6]

We have planned to hold a garage sale designed to raise funds for Operation Christmas Child. Why does this ministry need funding? For shipping costs of boxes packed and additional items to pack in the boxes. Start gathering stuff.

Weekly Scripture Meditation: [4.19.2020]

The Church, as a whole, is invited to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, April 19 are as follows:

John 20:19-31; Psalm 16; 1 Peter 1:3-9; Acts 2:14a, 22-32.

Thoughts on the Church

“The church is like a swimming pool in which all the noise comes from the shallow end. But most of the wisdom is to be found in the deep end, among those who have taken the time and cultivated the habits and disciplines to learn to swim in the deeper waters. If we are to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, then we need the kind of sustained learning that leads us into the deeper end of the pool.” Anglican Theologian, W.H. Vanstone

Easter Prayer

“O God, our Father, at Easter time we remember the great hope of eternal life which you have set before us, and we feel within our hearts the longings for goodness and for you. Grant that nothing may hinder the hope of eternal life from coming true, and the desire for goodness and for you from being realized.” From Prayers for the Christian Year by William Barclay.
