Godly Play

The Godly Play Group will be meeting at FBC on April 26th, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Please note that this is the fourth Friday rather than the third Friday as we will be celebrating Good Friday that evening. This month’s focus will be on The Mystery of Easter. As this is presented as a liturgical action story, there is no specific scripture reference provided for the presentation. The story explores the tradition of Lent in the Church. To join the circle, children must be 5 to 12 years old and registered using the FBC enrollment form. The Godly Play approach helps children to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and enhance their spiritual experience through the wonder of play. Godly Play is based on Montessori principles and was developed using a spiral curriculum. Contact Christine Quintana at 563-583-4623 for more information.

Weekly Scripture Meditation:

We are inviting the Church as a whole to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, April 28 are as follows:

Acts 5:27-32

Revelation 1:4-8

John 20:19-31

Psalm 150

Work Day at the Church

Let’s gather together on Saturday May 4th to do a Spring cleaning to beautify our wonderful church campus. There are inside and outside tasks to get accomplished. We will begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish at 3:00 p.m. You can choose a task and work until done and then leave. Coffee and donuts will be available. Contact L.A. Jennings for more information 556-1831.

Operation Christmas Child

The next Operation Christmas Child event will be on Saturday, April 27. This event will run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be a light lunch. The task is to make simple shorts from discarded t-shirts. We have t-shirts, thread, and elastic. You will need to bring your sewing machine, and perhaps more thread.

Your most formative Bible story, Important story or verses, etc.

What part of the whole Bible has shaped you the most? Is there a story that has influenced you in a certain situation? Is there a verse or story that all Christians should be aware of? Be strong and of great courage and submit them to Pastor Bees at  revbees@yahoo.com.

Quarterly Church Summit

Please plan to attend our next Church Summit. It will be held on Sunday, April 28 at 11:30 a.m. This is your time to hear what the church is planning to do, ask questions and bring up concerns. See you.

May Movie Night

Join us on Friday, May 10 for a wonderful foreign movie called “Babette’s Feast.” This is a wonderful multiple award-winning movie based on a short story by the same author of “Out of Africa.” During the late 19th century, a strict religious community in a Danish village takes in a French refugee from the Franco-Prussian War as a servant to the late pastor's daughters.  The Scripture that comes to mind while watching this movie is “Taste and see that the Lord is good!”
