Weekly Scripture Meditation: [5.2.2021]

The Church, as a whole, is invited to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, May 2 are as follows:

Acts 8:26-40; Psalm 22:25-31;1 John 4:7-21; John 15:1-8.

The Season of Easter

The Season of Easter comprises seven Sunday’s ending on Pentecost Sunday. Over the coming weeks the sermons will be based upon the Lectionary Texts from the Book of Acts. These texts give us a picture of what Post-Resurrection Life looked like in the early church.

Westminster Hunger Outreach

This outreach will occur THIS Saturday, April 24 at 9:00 a.m. It will be a drive-thru distribution expected to serve some 200 families. Here are the requirements for volunteers:

  • Arrive at 8:00 a.m.
  • Wear gloves and mask
  • Dress for weather since this will be outside
  • Park either on the street or at the UD lot cross the way
  • Get job assignment, assist unloading the food truck, be ready to serve
  • Be friendly, welcoming, caring, and demonstrate God’s love

We have had a committed band in the past and new people are welcome to join in. The crew at Westminster always appreciates our involvement.

Work Day Scheduled

Our first church work day in quite some time is going to occur on Saturday May 15 beginning at 9:00 a.m. [The rain date is May 22]. Our COVID precautions will still be in effect. We have a list of projects on the table in the foyer. They can either be done on that day or if you like, you can choose to come in and do them independently. For more information or questions contact L.A. Jennings: 563-599-9650.

Core Value:

“Because all people matter to God, we believe that the local church should strive to be racially, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse.” [Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15; Matthew 18:14; 28:19; Revelation 7:9-10; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:28]

  • Pray for a new manager for our coffee shop. We need a bi-lingual, mature believer, who loves people, and is creative and competent in the business.
  • Pray for the renovations as they continue. Pray for wisdom in planning all the details.
  • Pray for the campaign and for all the needed funding to come in to cover the renovations and the needed furnishings and equipment. The deeper they work, the more things we discover need to be repaired or replaced.
  • NightLight will be on break for Songkran, the Thai new year. Pray for all the women and staff who will travel home. Pray for traveling mercies and protection from COVID.
