One Great Hour of Sharing

OGHS began seventy-one years ago in response to the devastation of World War II. In March 1949, a national broadcast on a Saturday evening asked Americans to give generously the next morning in their churches. A remarkable assembly of national leaders and celebrities gave their efforts to broadcast, and more than 75,000 churches responded the next day.

Today, OGHS serves people in over 80 countries around the world. Sponsored by eight Christian U.S. denominations and Church World Service, OGHS makes sure that we can respond to needs as soon as they happen and that tens of thousands of people receive support for ongoing relief, rehabilitation, and development.

The World relief Committee of the American Baptist Board of General Ministries reviews each development project request funded by the OGHS offering received from American Baptists. Gifts reach the ministries and people in need through a network of regional and international partnerships with the following: American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, American Baptist Home mission Societies, Baptist World Aid, and Church World Service.

More next week!

We are on track to reopen on July 19

We are planning on reopening the church for gathered worship on Sunday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. While there are still some details to be worked out, here are some of the expectations on our first Sunday together.

  1. Masks are required for the safety of everyone.
  2. Seating will be on every other pew beginning with the second pew from the front.
  3. Seating will respect personal distancing, except with family groups.
  4. Ushers will direct people when they come in. We will exit by pews.
  5. Fellowship will voluntarily occur outside the building not inside.
  6. There will be no coffee or refreshments on Sunday.
  7. We will continue to record a video on Friday evenings for Sunday viewing for those who plan on not attending.
  8. The nursery will not be available.

Please do not come if you have a fever or symptoms. Also please do not attend if you already have a compromised immune system. There is no shame in being cautious during this pandemic.

Pray for the pastor and others as we work out the safest way to do this. May grace reign!

July Baptism

On Sunday, July 19th, our first worship back together, we will baptize Bella Quintana. She has articulated a faith story and has been patiently waiting through this pandemic for this event to occur.

The Church, as a whole, is invited to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, July 19 are as follows:

Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43; Psalm 86:11-17; Romans 8:12-25; Isaiah 44:6-8.

OCC Garage Sale Cancelled

Our OCC team, as well as other interested parties met, on Sunday July 5, to discuss the possibilities of doing a garage sale to benefit Operation Christmas Child. The Board had already voted that if the sale occurred, it would need to be held outside. After some discussion it was decided that an outside sale was not possible at this time.
