Upcoming Guest Speaker

We will have a guest in the pulpit on Sunday, June 23. Nancy Bickel has agreed to preach for the vacationing pastor on that Sunday. She is a retired UCC pastor and the mother of Julia. Please come and support her as she preaches.

Weekly Scripture Meditation:

We are inviting the Church as a whole to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, June 23 are as follows:

Luke 8:26-39; Psalm 22:19-28; Isaiah 65:1-9; Galatians 3:23-29

Greeters Needed!

The ministry of greeting is huge. Welcoming regular members and friends as well as first-time guests is a huge responsibility. As a greeter you can set the tone for the rest of the morning. You will need to give people a welcoming hello, hand out a bulletin and assist in the collecting of the offering. Please see the sign-up list on the board in the foyer.

June Godly Play

The Godly Play Group will be meeting at FBC on June 21st, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. This month’s focus will be on The Mystery of Pentecost. This story is referenced in Mark 16:19-20, Luke 24:50-53, and in Acts 1:5-14: 2:1-12. Reading these scriptures with your child beforehand will enhance the presentation of the story. This will be the last Godly Play meeting this church year as we will be breaking for the summer. To join the circle, children must be 5 to 12 years old and be registered using the FBC enrollment form. The Godly Play Approach helps children to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play. Godly Play is based on Montessori principles and was developed using a spiral curriculum.  Contact Christine Quintana at 563-583-4623 for more information.

Church Heroes

There are two unsung heroes in our midst. Cliff Wyatt and Rick Loeffelholz put down the edging stones and mulch along the drive way close to Judson House.

Also, Curt Hammond and Scott Fergus continue to improve the Fellowship Hall with a new coat of paint.

Baby Shower Success!

A group of women got together and blessed Taylor Routley with a baby shower. It was cool to see young and old come together to celebrate life! Thanks to all who participated.

Vacation Bible School

Save the date! This year we will be holding a Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 to 12. [Younger children may attend with a parent or adult guardian present]. The dates will be Monday to Thursday, July 22 to July 25, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Christine Quintana at 583-4623.

Summer Prayer Events

This Summer we will hold three prayer events. They will be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month [June 26, July 24, August 28]. We will meet at 7:00 p.m. each evening and have times of singing, guided prayer, congregational reading and response and prayers of the people. The format will remain the same each session. Please mark your calendar or electronic device. We’ll see you in June

Mission Outreach [8.24.19]

We have an opportunity to serve God through helping Westminster Presbyterian Church in their Hunger Outreach. This event is scheduled for Saturday, August 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. They will need some 40-50 volunteers to carry out this project. This is a first for them and a first for us. This outreach serves a growing need within the community. More information to follow.
