Year of the Clip…

To further our goal of “building community” we are busy planning a special event called “The Year of the Clip.” Our moderator has already shared most of the details and guidelines. This week there will be a sign-up sheet in our Sunday morning bulletin giving our members and friends an opportunity to participate in this event. It is a wonderful opportunity to share something that you consider to be special or unusual from a movie that you have enjoyed. Please consider becoming a participant. Think about this quickly, we will hold the event on Wednesday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m.

Weekly Scripture Meditation:

We are inviting the Church as a whole to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, May 26 are as follows:

Acts 16:9-15

Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5; John 14:23-29; Psalm 67

Your most formative Bible story, Important story or verses, etc.

What part of the whole Bible has shaped you the most? Is there a story that has influenced you in a certain situation? Is there a verse or story that all Christians should be aware of? Be strong and of great courage and submit them to Pastor Bees at  revbees@yahoo.com.

Godly Play:

The Godly Play group will be meeting at FBC on May 24th, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. This month’s focus will be on The Faces of Easter. The story references the life of Christ as written in the gospels and explores how Easter brings salvation and new life. To join the circle, children must be 5 to 12 years old and be registered using the FBC enrollment form. The Godly Play approach helps children to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play. Godly Play is based on Montessori principles and was developed using a spiral curriculum. Contact Christine Quintana at 563-583-4623 for more information.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Beginning in May we will collect for our denomination’s “One Great Hour of Sharing” offering. Where does our money go? This offering funds: emergency relief, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for urgent and acute needs brought on by disasters of natural or human origin; development projects, focused on meeting chronic human need by enabling individuals or groups to establish or maintain a more adequate quality of life; and refugee and immigration ministries, focused on holistic ministry to immigrants, refugees, and migrants in detention facilities and refugee camps.

Vacation Bible School

Save the date! This year we will be holding a Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 to 12. [Younger children may attend with a parent or adult guardian present]. The dates will be Monday to Thursday, July 22 to July 25, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Christine Quintana at 583-4623.
