Weekly Scripture Meditation: [5.16.2021]

The Church, as a whole, is invited to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, May 16 are as follows:

Acts 1:15-17, 21-26; Psalm 1; 1 John 5:9-13; John 17:6-19.

The Season of Easter.

The Season of Easter comprises seven Sundays ending on Pentecost Sunday. Over the coming weeks the sermons will be based upon the Lectionary Texts from the Book of Acts. These texts give us a picture of what Post-Resurrection Life looked like in the early church.

Sleeves Up!

I remember attending a Promise Keeper’s event at Soldier Field over twenty-five years ago. One of the speakers encouraged the audience of men to take care of their health. He said, “Many men don’t think about their health until something serious happens.” Our health is important. Our physical body is the God-given means by which we worship and serve God. Therefore, in this time of COVID, I believe the right thing to do is to wear a mask, get a shot and encourage our loved ones to do the same. Let’s end this thing! Let the Church arise and lead the way!

Work Day Scheduled

Our first church work day in quite some time is going to occur on Saturday May 15 beginning at 9:00 a.m. [The rain date is May 22]. Our COVID precautions will still be in effect. We have a list of projects on the table in the foyer. They can either be done on that day or if you like, you can choose to come in and do them independently. For more information or questions contact L.A. Jennings: 563-599-9650.

Sunday Morning Broadcast

We have ceased recording a worship service on Friday evenings. We will now be posting the Sunday morning service later that Day, perhaps by noon. It is still our hope to live stream the 10:00 a.m. service.

Core Value:

“Excellence honors God and inspires people.”

[Colossians 3:17; Malachi 1:6-14; Proverbs 27:17]

“Whatever you are doing, whether you speak or act, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
