60 Days of Prayer: World Mission Offering
These prayers come from sixty servants and staff of International Ministries. Their inspiration is John 4:14, “But whoever drinks from the water that I will give will never be thirsty again. The water that I give will become in those who drink it a spring of water that bubbles up into eternal life.”
[9.29] Our Father, we pray for you to pour out upon us your Spirit of compassion, renewal, and reverent desire to follow you daily. Debbie & Keith Myers, Malaysia.
[9.30] Let us be the living water of this world. Help us to transform hatred, violence, intolerance, apathy and hopelessness into love, peace, tolerance, empathy, and love. Deliris Carron-Joseph, Mexico.
[10.1] Grant us grace, courage and willing spirits to arise and shine with your love, which is the only antidote that can heal the violence, suffering and hopelessness that are plaguing the nations. Denise & Juan Aragon, Mexico.
[10.2] Lord, bless the students taking the Online Masters in Theological Studies Program. Continue to shape and mold them to become the people you want them to be. Jae Stockton, Mexico.
[10.3] How grateful we are, Lord, for your gift of living water. May its beauty, freshness and depth be ours as we look to the fullness of your creation today. Patti & Tim Long, Mexico.
[10.4] God, we lift up to you the thousands of refugees here who remain trapped between choosing to return to their war-torn countries or wait for a country abroad to let them in. Melanie Baggao, Middle East.
[10.5] As we think of our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world, we pray that your living presence will encourage, support and empower them. Laura & Rich Freeman, Middle East.
[10.6] May IM’s Nepali colleagues experience Jesus’ water, a flowing fountain giving eternal life, pouring out God’s love through their ministries of healing physically, mentally, and spiritually. Carole Sydnor, Nepal.
October Movie “Friendly Persuasion”
Our October movie will be shown on Friday, October 11 at 6:30 p.m. Friendly Persuasion is a 1956 American Civil War drama film starring Gary Cooper, Dorothy McGuire, Anthony Perkins, Richard Eyer, Robert Middleton and Phyllis Love. The screenplay was adapted by Michael Wilson from the 1945 novel The Friendly Persuasion by Jessamyn West, and was directed by William Wyler. The film tells the story of a Quaker family in southern Indiana during the American Civil War and the way the war tests their pacifist beliefs.
The film was originally released with no screenwriting credit because Wilson was on the Hollywood blacklist. His credit was restored in 1996.
News from NightLight
Prayers are bringing breakthrough! The month of August was a busy and fruitful month. It is exciting to see women coming out of prostitution, addictions, and homelessness after years of building relationships and being a loving, helping presence in the red-light district. We are so grateful for all the prayers that cover us, that bring intervention to the women, and spur us on in this work.
NightLight is still seeking a manager for the coffee shop who is bilingual and who understands business but also loves people and the opportunity to minister to broken people.
Pray for the business to prosper and sales to increase as well as for funding for all the programs of NightLight.
Please pray for all staff and volunteers who work and love in difficult places with precious but often very difficult people and situations. Pray for the staff/volunteers to stay strong in the Lord, to work in unity, and to stay humble and pure-hearted, not growing weary but always working by His Spirit. Pray we hear the voice of God and follow Him as we seek to love relentlessly.
Your contributions to the World Mission Offering go directly to support this mission in Thailand. Thanks!
