Fifth Sunday of Easter

PRAYER UPDATES FROM BANGKOK
As we enter a new season and look forward to Pentecost, we are excited about all that God is doing. It has definitely been a season of challenges, but we are confident the Holy Spirit is at work clearing out the old and bringing the new. May God bless you and fill your hearts and homes with the glory of His presence. May the power of His resurrection restore hope and flood you with joy. We do not know what is coming, but we know God is good, and because of the resurrection, we can face it victoriously.
Looking for Greeters
Over the last few weeks, we have had some guests on Sunday morning. We are seeking friendly people to serve as greeters to welcome guests and assist them in any way possible. Are you up to the task? Contact Linda Chapman.

Weekly Scripture Meditation: [5.9.2021]
The Church, as a whole, is invited to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, May 9 are as follows:
Acts 10:44-48; Psalm 98; 1 John 5:1-6; John 15:9-17.
The Season of Easter.
The Season of Easter comprises seven Sunday’s ending on Pentecost Sunday. Over the coming weeks the sermons will be based upon the Lectionary Texts from the Book of Acts. These texts give us a picture of what Post-Resurrection Life looked like in the early church.
I remember attending a Promise Keeper’s event at Soldier Field over twenty-five years ago. One of the speakers encouraged the audience of men to take care of their health. He said, “Many men don’t think about their health until something serious happens.” Our health is important. Our physical body is the God-given means by which we worship and serve God. Therefore, in this time of COVID, I believe the right thing to do is to wear a mask, get a shot and encourage our loved ones to do the same. Let’s end this thing! Let the Church arise and lead the way!
Work Day Scheduled
Our first church work day in quite some time is going to occur on Saturday May 15 beginning at 9:00 a.m. [The rain date is May 22]. Our COVID precautions will still be in effect. We have a list of projects on the table in the foyer. They can either be done on that day or if you like, you can choose to come in and do them independently. For more information or questions contact L.A. Jennings: 563-599-9650.
Sunday Morning Broadcast
We have ceased recording a worship service on Friday evenings. We will now be posting the Sunday morning service later that day, perhaps by noon. It is still our hope that we can move to a live stream of the 10:00 a.m. service in the not-too-distant future.
“Love for Jesus Christ is demonstrated in loving relationships and actions in every aspect of life.” [1 Corinthians 13; Nehemiah 3; Luke 10:1; John 13:34-35]
