Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost

November 8-15

“So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.” Matthew 25:13

“O God, the King Eternal, who divides the day from the darkness, and turns the shadow of death into the morning; Drive far off from us all wrong desires; incline our hearts to keep your law; and guide our feet into the way of peace, that having done your will with cheerfulness while it was day, we may, when the night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. – from “The Book of Worship”

Please wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

We are now taking reservations for receiving shoe box drop offs. The times for collection week [November 16-23] are as follows: Monday – Friday; 9:00 a.m. – noon; 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.

Saturday 9:00 a.m. – noon; Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 2:oo p.m.; Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Receiving shoeboxes is ideally a two person job. One person is responsible to greet and keep accurate count. The other is to unload boxes and pack.

Adult Sunday School

We have plans to restart our adult Sunday School Class. The plan is to do it virtually on Thursday evenings at 6:30. We are seeking feedback as to the level of interest and commitment for attending this event. We would hope to begin on Thursday, December 3. Please inform Pastor Tim by emailing him at Thank you.

Quarterly Church Summit [11.8.2020]

Our next quarterly church summit will be held after worship on Sunday, November 8. Please make plans to attend. For those of you who have health issues that would preclude your attendance, we are exploring the option of having you attend through Zoom meeting. We are looking in to how to do that for this application.

Advent Study

Waiting is such an integral part of life. Right now we are waiting for election results. Right now we are waiting for a vaccine. Waiting is part of what it means to be human. In just a few weeks time we will be in the Church Season of waiting: Advent. Advent is the four week season leading up to the Season of Christmas. This year, it begins on Sunday, November 29 and ends on Sunday, December 20. Advent is the start of the Church Year. It is a new beginning. We await Christ.

The Lord laid it on my heart to provide a study for Advent in spite of the COVID situation we find ourselves in. So this will be a virtual experience using a book by noted New Testament scholar, N.T. Wright entitled, "Advent for Everyone: A Journey with the Apostles." The book provides readings for each day of Advent: scripture and commentary. The goal is to read and meditate on the week's reading and then gather virtually and discuss what God has revealed.

For this to work ideally, I need for you to commit to this study ASAP so I can get a feel for how many books to order. Are you interested? Email me your intentions. Let's have a wonderful, Christ-centered Advent together.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for the cases of trafficked women to move forward. Pray the prosecutors, police and judges will work on their behalf. Pray for the women as they wait anxiously to go home and be reunited with their families. There have been too many delays and the women are discouraged.
  • Please continue to pray for one of the women, a stateless victim of labor trafficking. She was born in Thailand and only knows Thai, so being deported to the country of her ethnicity would be devastating. Please pray for doors to open for her to stay in Thailand.
  • Please continue to pray for sales and financial provision to keep the women employed, to provide holistic care, to rescue and repatriate victims of trafficking and to continue programs of outreach to the vulnerable and hurting.
