New Greeting Ministry

This Sunday we will begin a new phase in our goal of helping guests feel welcome. We have a new welcome table in the foyer that will be staffed before and after service. People will be greeted at the door and sometimes even before they enter the building. We are developing new signage to guide people around the campus. Our website is being upgraded to provide the necessary information for people seeking a church. Would you like to participate in this ministry? Talk to Brian Burch or Pastor Tim.

Discipleship is available for everyone!

Just a reminder that we are in our second week of discipleship. It begins at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. We have something for everyone. Each class will be looking at the same text that the pastor will be teaching on in worship.

NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner

This year’s dinner will be held on November 3 at the Diamond Jo Casino Banquet Hall. The program provides operating funds for the local chapter of the NAACP, as well as supporting the annual MLK Essay Tribute and their Minority Scholarship program. The program will officially begin at 7:00 p.m. More information to come.

Church Board Openings

Baptist Churches are governed by their congregations. Basically, any big decision must go before the congregation for a vote to proceed. However, the congregation cedes some powers to a representative group of people for daily church management and that group is the Board. That group is comprised of five Officers, who serve year to year, with some limitations, as well as At-Large members who sign up for two-year stints. Are you willing to serve? Contact either Ron Brass or Pastor Tim.

We need more fillers for this age group.

• Purses, hair accessories, and dolls

• Larger size clothing

• Tennis balls, hacky sacks, or soccer balls (and pumps)

FBC Movie Night in October

On October 12th we will be showing the movie “I Can Only Imagine.” This inspiring and unknown true story behind MercyMe’s beloved, chart topping song that brings ultimate hope to so many is a gripping reminder of the power of true forgiveness. Get the word out and invite some people! The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. and the popcorn and water are always free!

Godly Play

The Godly Play Group will be meeting at FBC on October 26th, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Please note that this month we are meeting on the fourth Friday rather than the third. This month’s focus will be on Second Creation: The Falling Apart from the book of Genesis. To join the circle, children must be 5 to 12 years old and be registered using the FBC enrollment form. The Godly Play approach helps children to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play. Godly Play is based on Montessori principles and was developed using a spiral curriculum. Contact Christine Quintana at 563-583-4623 for more information. Group size is limited but we have a few more spaces available.

The Godly Play Group will not meet during November due to the Operation Christmas Child Collections and the Thanksgiving Holiday.
