PRAYER UPDATES FROM BANGKOK [SEPTEMBER]

We have entered a season that many say will be a time of great harvest. It has been and continues to be a difficult season, but we can see the value of the time invested in building relationships. Yesterday while we were walking to the outreach center, I greeted one of the motorcycle taxi drivers as usual and asked how he was. He said his shoulder was hurting so I stopped to pray for him, and he was grateful. I had prayed for his neck and now it is doing better. It’s a little step, but bit by bit the neighborhood is seeing God through us and opening their hearts. Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is this month and once again there is opportunity for new beginnings and a fresh start.

Praise:

Two Thai women at NightLight accepted Christ this month. We are hearing that there are several who are thinking about it as they experience His love and presence.

Weekly Scripture Meditation: [9.20.2020]

The Church, as a whole, is invited to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, September 20 are as follows:

Matthew 20:1-16; Psalm 145:1-8; Philippians 1:21-30; Jonah 3:10-4:11.

New Treasurer Announced!

Candi Kamm has been approved as a replacement for Andrew Christiansen’s vacancy on the Board. She will take over as Treasurer and serve in that capacity on the Board for the next five months. We greatly appreciate her willingness to serve the Lord in this capacity.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

FBC Shoppers, here are the necessities we need to fill 250 shoeboxes – we filled more than 200 at last year’s packing party:

  • Bars of Soap
  • Combs or Brushes
  • Toothbrushes
  • First Aid Kits
  • Pencils and Sharpeners

We could still use other items, including tool kits for older boys, flip flops and water bottles for all ages, and crayons and other school supplies. We have over 300 washcloths, 250 stuffed animals and tons of toys, so thank you again for your help! If you have any shopping or donation questions, please call Kylie Loeffelholz at 563-543-4073.

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 13

Here is the plan for this coming Sunday. If the weather is good, we will meet outside. If the weather isn’t good, we will meet inside. My preference would be to meet outside because we can spread out more. I am aware that some of you will attend outdoor services and not indoor services while others will attend the indoor service and not the outdoor. HERE IS THE PLAN.

I WILL EMAIL EVERYONE ON THIS LIST AT 8:30 A.M. SUNDAY MORNING WHERE WE WILL MEET. BUT WE WILL MEET SOMEPLACE.

Masks are still recommended for outside and required for inside. Social distancing will be in effect. If we are outside and you want to use the parking lot, you will need to arrive before 10:00. After that, please park curbside.
