PRAYER UPDATES FROM BANGKOK [SEPTEMBER]

Praises:

Discipleship classes start up again this month after a break during COVID restrictions.

We had an anti-trafficking coalition meeting with the department of Special Investigations and were amazed that there were 6 Christian NGOs joining. It’s wonderful to see Christians joining together in unity and working with the government in a positive way.

We had a wonderful Thai Mother’s Day party last month. The women were so happy to be able to have a party again.

Prayers:

One of the new believers is in a situation of domestic violence. Pray that she will have clarity and courage in making decisions for her own safety and well-being.

Weekly Scripture Meditation: [9.27.2020]

The Church, as a whole, is invited to participate in reading and meditating on the lectionary texts for the upcoming Sunday. The texts for Sunday, September 27 are as follows:

Matthew 21:23-32; Psalm 25:1-9; Philippians 2:1-13; Ezekiel 18:1-4, 25-32.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

FBC Shoppers, here are the necessities we need to fill 250 shoeboxes – we filled more than 200 at last year’s packing party:

  • Bars of Soap
  • Combs or Brushes
  • Toothbrushes
  • First Aid Kits
  • Pencils and Sharpeners

We could still use other items, including tool kits for older boys, flip flops and water bottles for all ages, and crayons and other school supplies. We have over 300 washcloths, 250 stuffed animals and tons of toys, so thank you again for your help! If you have any shopping or donation questions, please call Kylie Loeffelholz at 563-543-4073.

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20

Here is the plan for this coming Sunday. If the weather is good, we will meet outside. If the weather isn’t good, we will meet inside. My preference would be to meet outside because we can spread out more. I am aware that some of you will attend outdoor services and not indoor services while others will attend the indoor service and not the outdoor.

We will block off the eight spaces in the South end of the parking lot to hold our service. We are doing this to avoid looking into the rising sun at 10 a.m.

Masks are still recommended for outside and required for inside. Social distancing will be in effect. If we are outside and you want to use the parking lot, you will need to arrive before 10:00. After that, please park curbside.

Bring your own chairs, and dress for the weather. God bless you.

Sermon Series on Philippians

Over the coming four weeks we will be spending time in Paul’s letter to the church at the city of Philippi. Paul wrote a thank-you letter to the church for supporting him in his missionary work. He also wanted to share with them that even though he was under arrest, he drew contentment from Christ and from seeing their growth as Christians. It is often called “the epistle of joy” because of its frequent call to rejoice. Why not start reading ahead in Philippians to prepare your heart for the coming messages?
