The Cast




Adrianna Johnson is from Chicago, IL. She is a University of Dubuque alumni. She received her Bachelor of Science in 2015. She currently works at Hillcrest Family Services as a counselor. In her spare time, Adrianna loves to sing and enjoys acting. She has been an actor in various plays throughout her lifetime. Her most notable roles include the Grandmother in the play Flyin West, and Mildred Loving in the FBC Walk Through Black History production of The Loving Story. Adrianna's repertoire also includes the role of Gabriele in The Mahalia Jackson Story. When asked about her accomplishments, Adrianna states that “Most importantly she loves God!”


Ernest Jackson Ernest Jackson is the owner of Ernest Jackson Painting, LLC. He is the former Operations Manager at John Deere. He currently serves on the First Baptist Church (FBC) Board as an At-Large Board Member representing the Worship Committee. Ernest is a dynamic member of the FBC Worship Team and plays guitar during morning worship service and other FBC events. Ernest Jackson has been actively engaged in Greater Dubuque community improvement initiatives for several years. He has served as a mentor to youth, young professionals and community leaders. His core belief is that we can build a better future for all segments of the local community. Ernest is Chair of the Board of Directors of Dubuque’s True North and an active member of the Dubuque Black Men Coalition. Ernest was the recipient of the 2016 Ruby Sutton Award. He was recently a featured speaker at the Faces & Voices Online 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration. Ernest is an avid cyclist and has participated in numerous cycling events such as RAGBRAI.


Peggy Jackson resides in Dubuque. Peggy is an active member of First Baptist Church and enjoys being part of the Worship Team as well as volunteering with the Children’s Dance and Drama Team. Peggy has been an integral part of FBC’s Vacation Bible School programming. She is also head of the Church Decorating Committee. Peggy has been writing and producing plays for Walk Through Black History (WTBH) at First Baptist for 16 years. In addition, she has performed in such plays as Working Women at Sinsinawa, The Amen Corner, Memphis at University Of Dubuque, Crowns with Fly by Night, Top of the Mountain with Fly by Night (co-producer) and she played Louise Laroche at the River Museum during the Titanic Presentation. She enjoys spending her time helping others. Peggy is a regular volunteer for the National Mississippi Museum and Aquarium. She is involved with mentoring young girls (SUEC). She is the wife of Ernest Jackson and a mother of 3 sons. Peggy and her husband have been instrumental in bringing Dubuque’s Annual Juneteenth Celebration to the community. Peggy is the recipient of the 2020 Ruby Sutton Award. Her hobbies are sewing, theater, singing and shopping. She truly finds joy in assisting others and being a part of our community.
