PRAYER UPDATES FROM BANGKOK

Chains are Breaking
 April 2026

This past month, we gathered for our annual NightLight Retreat. The theme, “From Glory to Glory,” centered on transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit. We were blessed to have a guest speaker, Sandra, share about how the Holy Spirit brings freedom.
Shortly before the retreat, a new woman, "E," joined our program. Her story is one of both deep hardship and remarkable courage. She grew up as an orphan and endured a difficult childhood. Despite these challenges, she came to know God through the people who spoke truth into her life. However, when the caretaker who had been raising her suddenly passed away, she found herself alone once again.
In desperation, she sought work at a bar, which led to her becoming trapped in sex work. For two years, she felt stuck—overwhelmed by shame and a growing sense of distance from God. Yet, in a moment of courage, she reached out for help. Through that step, she was referred to our organization and quickly entered our program.
During the retreat, especially in times of worship, we began to see a change in her and others in the room. It was as if a faint light began to flicker in a long, darkened room. As the speaker shared about the power of the Holy Spirit, that light grew stronger—pushing back shadows that had lingered for years.  And then, something deeper began to happen.
The chains that once seemed unbreakable began to strain and crack across the room. You could almost hear it—the sharp, ringing snap of metal giving way. Links that had been rusted shut by shame started to split apart. One by one, they fell—clattering to the ground like heavy iron finally losing its grip.
Across the room, it felt as though women were stepping out of prisons they had carried within themselves. Shoulders lifted. Tears flowed—not from despair, but from release. It was like watching doors swing open in a place that had long been locked, sunlight rushing in where darkness had ruled. The retreat culminated in a deeply sacred moment where our leaders, Annie and Pon, anointed the feet of each woman. As oil was gently poured and prayers were spoken, it felt like the final locks were being undone. Where chains had once wrapped tightly, there was now freedom—bare feet standing firmly on new ground.

2 Corinthians 3:17 – “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”In that space, the air itself seemed lighter. The weight had lifted. The sound of breaking had given way to stillness, peace, and quiet joy.It was a powerful reminder that no chain is too strong, no past too heavy, and no heart too far gone for God to reach and restore.

PRAISE REPORTS

  • Praise God for the convictions in the ongoing court case. All three traffickers received sentences. We thank God for bringing them to justice and holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Thank God for the amazing retreat that saw two women get baptized, and through the Holy Spirit working, several received freedom from bondage.
  • Thank God for the 6 women from 3 different countries who were sent home in the last month.
  • Thank God for the opportunity to go and meet with the women recently arrested and detained.
  • Thank God for the Easter season and the reminder of all that Jesus did for us on the cross.
  • Thank God for the ongoing work to keep women employed with dignity.
  • Thank God for the recent worship night held in our outreach center that was led by a local Thai church.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Pray for the new government leaders to have a heart for victims of trafficking and exploitation. Pray they would have a true victim-centered approach and make assisting victims of trafficking and exploitation a priority of the new administration.

  • Pray for the women who returned home this past month. Pray for them as they are starting over at home and are reunited with their families.

  • Pray for the women that our outreach team is building relationships with, that they would be bold and courageous to step out and ask for our help to leave the sex industry.

  • Pray for NightLight's alternative employment program. We lost a wholesale partner, which has impacted our revenue. The business is critical to women's successful employment. Pray for increased sales with existing retailers and wholesale partners, for expanded sales opportunities, for the new Storefront in Missouri, and for the provision to keep the business sustainable.

  • Pray for the arrest of a major trafficker. The case began two years ago, and the woman is still operating her business of trafficking and exploiting women. NightLight assisted several of her victims, and they bravely reported and will need to testify. Pray for justice and for the law enforcement team to have a strategy, resources, and determination to find her and bring her to justice.

  • Pray for "E," who recently joined NightLight's program. She experienced a breakthrough on the retreat and is now on her journey to restoration.

  • This month is the celebration of Songkran, the Thai New Year. Most of our employees travel home to bless and receive blessings from their elders. Pray for travel safety and the courage to share their faith with their extended families.

Thank you for standing in the gap with us in intercession.
