PRAYER UPDATES FROM BANGKOK
The Father's Love and a Fortune Teller's Freedom
June 2026
What an incredible month of divine appointments! Two Tanzanian and one Ugandan survivor returned home in May. An Ethiopian and a Ugandan who survived forced criminality in Cambodia and Myanmar, and harrowing journeys in which they were smuggled to Bangkok, joined our shelter program. Another Tanzanian came asking for help, and when she told us that though she is Muslim, she prefers to pray to Jesus (her mother's faith), we offered her a Bible. She held in her hands and aloud prayed thankfulness for receiving her first Bible.
At the salon this week, many women came in to escape the heat and rest. Two of the Thai women from the streets prayed to accept Jesus as Lord. One of them, who had been a palm reader and idol vendor, exclaimed that she had waited 40 years for this freedom. The other wanted prayer because she had witchcraft done to her. That led to sharing the gospel with her. She prayed to accept Jesus and cried when she realized she is now a child of God and that Father God loves her so much. Another woman's admission of guilt over an attempted abortion led to a prayer of repentance and forgiveness. We ended the month with a night of worship - our hearts filled with gratitude and joy at God's love.
It feels like we are running from one God-orchestrated appointment to another. What joy to be a witness to and to co-labor with God and his angels in the outpouring of his love, mercy, forgiveness, salvation, and freedom of the oppressed.
PRAISE REPORTS
• Praise God that three survivors were repatriated to Tanzania and Uganda in May.
• Thank God for the miraculous escape of an African woman from the scam centers and for the Good Samaritan who connected the dots to get her to our care.
• Thank God the survivor of forced criminality who survived the bombings is improving and is now able to get some counseling as well.
• Thank God that two traffickers were arrested in May. One of them, the boss of three victims in our care, was sought after for two years. The second will likely just be deported, but even so, she will no longer be exploiting women in Thailand.
• Thank God for the two Thai women who came to Christ at the beauty salon.
• Thank God that more trafficked women are reaching out for help and for the support that enables us to shelter them and repatriate them.
• Thank God the police and the Department of Special Investigation raided a large Indian nightclub this week for illegal operations.
PRAYER REQUESTS
• Continue to pray for the government leaders to have a heart for victims of trafficking and exploitation. Pray they would have a true victim-centered approach and make assisting victims of trafficking and exploitation a priority of the new administration.
• Pray for the survivors who returned home this past month. Pray for them as they are starting over at home. Re-entry can be very difficult. Some are trying to start small businesses, and we pray they will be open to assistance from local NGOs to succeed.
• Pray for the survivor of forced criminality who entered our program in late May. She had a terrifying experience both in captivity and in her journey to freedom. Pray for the legal process to get her identified as a trafficked victim. Pray for the healing of the trauma.
• Pray for NightLight’s alternative employment program. Pray for increased sales with existing retailers and wholesale partners, for expanded sales opportunities, for the new Storefront in Missouri, and for the provision to sustain the business.
• As a result of recent raids by law enforcement, many of the trafficking rings are shifting their areas of operation. Pray for the evidence to come to light to expose the trafficking rings at work and for them to be arrested and brought to justice. Please pray they will not move their operations to another country or region, and that they will be stopped. Pray the victims will be released and not return to exploitation.
• Pray for “E,” who is now in a rehab center. She is restless and would like to leave now, rather than finish the program. Pray for the breakthrough she needs to stick with it and to be fully delivered from addiction and the root causes.
• Pray for the survivor of forced criminality who survived the bombing. She was identified as a trafficked victim, and now we are seeking assistance from IOM for her repatriation. She carries the urn of her deceased friend and promised the family to bring it home. This is not something we have had to navigate before, so pray for wisdom as we facilitate her return with the ashes.
This month, we celebrate Father's Day in many countries around the world. The love of God is reaching women who have felt unseen, alone, scared, and trapped. Through your prayers and the faithfulness of His people, women are experiencing God's love and walking into freedom through Jesus. "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!" (1 John 3:1 NIV)
Thank you for your prayers and support! Happy Father's Day to all the fathers and father figures whose love is an extension of the Father's love!
